Forests of Similan

Mu Ko Similan has the geological formations of submerged shoreline. All are steep high mountain with about 65 million-year-old granite. Most coastal areas are cliffs with no large bay so there is no mangrove forest here.

Beach Forest: found along the beaches of the islands such as the Park’s beach, Haad Lek, and Haad Ao Keuak. The floras found are Dillo Oil Tree and so on.

Evergreen Forest: found both moist evergreen forest and dry evergreen forest. Floras found are both deciduous trees and evergreen trees such as Dipterocarpus, Shorea, and so on. The forest here are very abundant since it is on islands far from the main land.
