A trip with Sea Canoeing

Sea Canoeing is a popular Eco-tourism activity in the last ten years by paddling a sea canoe boat to get into sea caves or go around the shorelines, observing the splendors of rock face and various animals. It is also convenient to get into a small and narrow hollow that is impossible for other boats.

The trip starts with contacting a travel agency. Some agency will pick you up from the hotel, get on a big boat at Ao Paw (Phuket), and go straight to Phang-Nga Bay. At present, there are tour services at Tha Daan Port, also.

When the big boat arrives, travelers get on a sea canoe 2 person per boat. There is a staff of each canoe to paddle you to enter the caves at Ko Panak, Ko Hong and Ko Talu. It is not permitted to paddle into by yourselves because it may be dangerous. Some tour may take you to visit Khao Ping Kan and Ko Ta Poo. For the boat from Phuket, the tour usually stops at Ko Lawa and Ko Naka for travelers to paddle along.

Most of sea canoeing tours are full-day tour at the expense of 2,000-3,000 baht including transportation from the hotel, fruits, food, drinks and so on. If you would like to take an economical tour, contact at Tha Daan Port. The expense is about 1,500 baht a day, but you have to go to the port by yourself and cannot visit Ko Lawa.

If you take a sea-canoeing trip, it is recommended to bring a binocular with you. You may see birds and wild animals like hornbills, Brahminy kites, colagos and so on. Besides, it is better to study geological formations like a natural stone bridge and sea cave.
