New Friends on Land
The Royal Forestry Department has surveyed Phang-Nga Bay in 1991 and found a lot of animals separated into groups as follows:
Mammals Found 17 species. Sumatran serons and White-handed gibbons are the stars, but they are expected to be extinct from the area nowadays. Other animals found are such as Smooth-coated otters, Spectacled langurs, and Crab-eating macaques. However, all animals are in very threatened condition.
Reptiles Found 18 species. The often-found animals are Water monitors and Indian monitors. Some sea snakes are found such as Common Salt Water snakes.
Amphibians Found only 3 species, which are Saltwater frog, Common frog
Birds Found 88 species in the area of Phang-Nga bay which are 67 resident birds such as Pacific Reef egrets, White-bellied Sea eagles, kingfishers, and Oriental Pied hornbills; and 21 migratory birds such as Edible-nest swiftlets.
