Shark Giant Shark
GIANT SHARK...PRE-HISTORIC EXECUTIONER
Shark is one of the most interesting groups of animal in the wild. I would not be far wrong in saying so. They have emerged 395 million years before man and continued to evolve. Until 180 million years ago, nature had fine-tuned and perfected them. They are hunters that had endured through times. Their living efficiency had fully developed. After when their shape and behavior have not altered.
Having said so, do not think that all kind of sharks have not extinct. Some kind had not survived to continue living in the blue world and vanished before our time. Among these, one kind of sharks had vanished to many people’s relief. Had they been in existence until now, I, for one, would not be diving in the sea.
We all know whale shark well, that they are the largest fish in the world with the length of 12 - 15 meters. The largest one was 18 meters long. And we all know white shark well from the film ‘Jaws’. They are ferocious, hunting other animals for food. They are about 8 – 10 meters long. Try to combine ferocity of white shark with the size of whale shark and multiply by two, you will get an animal called giant shark (Carcharodon megalodon )
This prehistoric shark was about 30 meters long, equivalent to 8 storied building or blue whale – the largest animal in present day world. Scientist found that their fang alone was 25 centimeters long. They were the ancestors of white shark and believed to be equally ferocious. Imagine that they are still around in the sea. A whole group of divers, even on board a boat, will be demolished in no time. The famous T. Rex of Jurassic Park would suddenly be smaller and less ferocious. Thank God they were extinct 15 million years ago.
